Position description

The RN provides care to patients utilizing face to face visits as well as tele health nursing. Patient visits include, but are not limited to: review of patient health issues, medication review, immunization administration, and patient education. Tele health consists of telephone care related to visit planning including pre-ordering labs/consults under the direction of the physician, and assessing symptom-based concerns. The RN collaborates daily with physicians, clinical assistants, appointment coordinators, and medical secretaries. The ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) provide a basis of nursing practice in the ambulatory setting. The RN supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient.

Qualifications

Student or Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required.

All associate degree or diploma registered nurses hired into the Department of Nursing with a RN start date after September 1, 2010, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 5 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

Additional qualifications

Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of two years recent RN experience in acute care required. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Must demonstrate high level of initiative, demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting including innovations in the practice environment.

Previous telephone triage experience helpful. Demonstrates ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team encouraging the development of team momentum, enthusiasm and pride. Demonstrates ability to successfully interact and communicate with highly professional clientele. Develops positive working relationships with team members while excelling in building trust and respect

License or certification

Must obtain prior to start date:

Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
Arizona and Florida: Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Midwest: Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

* American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
* Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
* Military Training Network

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $28.22 per hour.
